Bowen

I have now been in Bowen for over a week. I like this little quant town; it’s cute. It reminds me a bit of a retirement town in Florida. There are more grandpas here than people my age. It’s good to just relax for a bit and do nothing. I’ve been going to the beach, which is a 7-minute walk from the house we’re staying at. The scenery is beautiful here, there are tons of beaches nearby that are untouched. It feels good to be out of the busy city. The birds here are so loud and love talking. Some of them are so beautiful too. They look so tropical. I was hanging out at a bench at the beach and a peacock just jumped on my table and was chilling next to me as I was reading. It was crazy. Jessica and I did however encounter a scary deadly animal – a brown snake. Apparently if it bites you, you have three seconds to live before you die… good thing it didn’t bite us!

Gumtrees are fun to climb!

We’ve toured about the town and gone to some overlooks and beach views of the islands. Jessica and I went on an adventure last weekend with the Yacht Club here in town. The club consists of about a dozen or so older guys around retirement age. The deal is you show up on Saturdays around 2:30pm and hop on one of their boats before they go out for their weekly race. It’s pretty fun and free! I had never really been yachting before so it was exciting. I’ll take any chance I can get to get out on the water. The guys were really nice too, I think that they don’t get many young girls in their 20s wanting to go on yachts with them… haha. I think we enjoyed it just as much as they did!

Sailing!

It was kinda scary how much the boat tipped.

We beat these boats!
